The first skip of the year was opened for business at 10am on Saturday. In contrast to last year’s rush this was a sedate affair. A gentle stream of plot holders deposited broken and unwanted items in the skip. And as usual some of those unwanted items found a new home on a different plot instead of being taken away to the tip. There were also a number of carpets – good to see – and, despite the Committee’s pleas, some green waste.
Not until 4pm was the skip full.
The message the Committee takes from this is that the amount of junk on site is diminishing. There will always be stuff that needs to be removed, but perhaps the demand for skips is less than it was.
