A few weeks ago, plot holder Gillian Brown kindly organised the collection of unwanted tools from plot holders on behalf of Workaid. Workaid is a charity based in Chesham that collects tools of every kind from across the UK to refurbish and distribute them to people in need in East Africa and the UK, helping them to learn a skill and earn a living, benefiting both the individual and the wider community. Gillian was pleased with the response, with plenty of spades, forks, etc. being deposited on her plot for collection. Workaid has also written to thank us, and their latest container-load of tools is on its way to Africa now. You can find out more about Workaid and their projects here.

Gillian would be happy to repeat the exercise again soon, so please bear that in mind when you’re having your Autumn shed tidy-up. Your rusty old rake can be put to very good use, tackling poverty right at the grass roots level. We’ll let you know when Gillian is ready for another collection.
