It was a glorious day on Saturday for the midsummer BBQ. Plotters gathered on 48A, bringing tables, chairs, salads and helped hang bunting, set up the bar and relax. Many sought shade as they chatted, supped ice cold drinks, ate burgers barbequed by our HAA chair. With the many delicious shared homemade desserts, it was like a bake off – I had to try them all! There was plenty of food left for the very happy latecomers following the England match.

It was the perfect setting for the Morris dancers to entertain us. Despite the heat, many folk participated whilst accompanied by the fiddle and concertina!
People were walking around with their faces transformed by our guest face painter Claire, who skilfully used beautiful colours and sparkle!
It quite an eco-event with emphasis on reusing and recycling. We had only one bag of rubbish generated by around 50 guests!!

We chatted about the greenhouse and we have plans for installing a composting toilet.
We look forward to a community tasks morning in September followed by a BBQ lunch. Watch this space for the date!
